How do I get to be a sheriff on Playray?

Playray Sheriffs are special Playray members who have volunteered to keep the gamerooms in order. Sheriffs can, among other things, remove troublemakers and flooders from chatrooms.

If you are a Playray member and believe you have what it takes to be a fair and righteous Sheriff, please send us your informal application!

If you’ve read your way through the F.A.Q. and still haven’t found the answer or solution you were looking for, you can write a message to our helpdesk. The Playray staff will read all incoming messages and replies if a return address has been given

Make sure to read the news on latest updates . Possible technical malfunction etcetera will be reported over there.

Web etiquette and site rules

The Users' conduct in the Services is guided by basic web etiquette.

Users must obey all laws and other rules that regulate the use of the Internet and web sites. Any illegal behaviour will be noted and notified to the relevant authorities and such User will be terminated and banned for an unlimited period of time from the Services.

The User shall be personally responsible for the use, communications and activities of the Services. Such responsibility includes, but is not limited to, all communications, texts, images and sounds that the User contributes to the Service. The User indemnifies and holds Playray harmless from any liability or damages arising from such content.

Without limitation, Playray finds for example the following acts as violations against the Services:

• Distributing and transmitting illegal, harmful, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive or sexually explicit content into the Service
• harming minors in any way
• Illegal hacking, cracking and distribution of false software
• Any other illegal acts in the Services
• Exploiting the Services in any manner
• Threatening, embarrassing or harassing other Users or any other individual, group or entity
• Damaging or annoying use of chat rooms, Accounts or other parts of the Service (including without limitation spamming, chain letters, pyramid schemes and advertising)
• Impersonation
• Using or attempting to use other User's passwords or other Account information
• Uploading files that contain a virus or corrupted data.
• Downloading any software in the Services
• Modification of the Services
• Making aid programs to play the games
• Invert the visible code to source code

If Playray administration finds that the User has violated the Services, Playray may, in its sole discretion

• Give a warning to that User
• Terminate his/her Account
• Ban that User for an unlimited period of time

What are Badges?

Playray has just released a shining new feature, "Badges", as a Beta version! Badges are currently available in three games: Bubbles, Space Cave, and Stage Lights. Although we aim at bringing Badges into most of our games in the future, Badges are not intended to be just another game playing feature; they will appear throughout the whole Playray community!

We might grant you with a badge for extraordinary actions, cool personality, or sharing your opinions on the forums in a mature way. The next new Badges are already under development and will be released in small batches during the fall. We are open to our users' suggestions too!

Once you've earned a new Badge, it will appear above the game right away. Below the games you can see the Badges that you have earned before, plus the Badge that is next in turn (if you improve your results and qualify for it).
Badges are granted both for gaming skills and stamina. This means that it pays off to stubbornly play the games even if your skills are not quite at the top! There are also "Easter Egg Badges", that are given as a surprise based on luck, not just skills! To keep things secret and exciting, we won't tell more about these Easter Egg Badges right now!

Badges go hand in hand with their own internal star score system. Scores increase when users improve their results. Star scores are not to be mixed with ranking: star scores are not used to sort users in any way.

Badges can not be given away or purchased with money. They are totally personal, totally free of charge, and most of all fun!

What are moderators?

Moderators are people monitoring forum postings in order to keep conversations within acceptable limits, and thus act as a sidekick to the administrator.

Moderators have rights to censor postings by deleting them or bar misbehaving users from forums altogether.

What can I do if someone is harassing me?

If you are being harassed by another player, you have several options:

Ignore the selected users

If you are being bothered or harassed by another player, you can choose to ignore them in the lobby chat. To ignore a player, click their nickname in the player list. At the bottom of the window there is a checkbox labeled "Ignore selected user." Check this box and you will no longer receive chat messages from that player.

Bad Word Filter

You have the ability to control what kind of language is displayed to you in the gamerooms. If you choose to use the filter, bad words will be replaced with "#%"#!!1" symbols in the chat area. To enable this feature, open your settings page. Under the heading "Options" you can check the checkbox labeled "Enable bad word filter in games".

Send a report To report any occurrence of abuse or inproper behaviour, please send an Abuse Report through support.

If you are harassed by one of your fellow players you can try and contact a sheriff and request him/her to take care of the situation for you.

Who grants the sheriff rights?

Sheriffs rights are granted by customer service to selected users.
