Overview

Be a master of the castle and shoot off your neighbor's fortress! Remember to fix your own wall every once in a while, because the cannonball flies to both directions!

Logging in

In case you haven't registered yet, the game will assign you a random visitor nickname. A wavy line (~) will appear automatically before your name in order to inform other players that you are not a registered player. By this we make sure that your nickname won't be confused with those of registered users.

Game Lobby

After logging in, you can enter the game lobby. The lobby consists of 4 distinct spaces, and you can move from one space to another by clicking the buttons at the top of the lobby.
Chat: In this space you can chat with other people who are in the lobby. It is possible to chat in any other part of the lobby, too, but in the other spaces the chat window, which is located at the bottom of the screen, is considerably smaller than in this space.
Challenge: Here you can challenge other people to a game. Choose game settings from the menu, and select an opponent from the list on the left from the chat window, and then click the "Challenge" button. If the opponent you chose accepts the challenge, the game can begin. If someone else challenges you, the name of the challenger and the game settings s/he has chosen are displayed on the right side of the screen. You can either accept or reject the challenge.
Create/Join a Game: Here you can create your own game or join a 3-4 player game. Creating a new game works in the same way as challenging does, but you don't have to choose an opponent. Just select the settings, and click the Create a new Game button. Then you will enter the game, and once the required number of players have entered the game, the game can begin. You can join an existing game by choosing the game from the list on the right side of the screen, and by clicking the Join the Game button.
View Games: If you don't feel like playing, you can also join games as a viewer. Just choose a game from the list and click the Join as a Viewer button.
In addition to these buttons, there are some options boxes at the top of the lobby:

No Challenges for Me: If this has been checked, you can.t be challenged to a game. This option is useful for example if you only want to chat in the lobby, or if you leave your computer for a while but don't want to quit the game.
Signal when Challenged: If this option has been checked, you will hear a double beep every time someone challenges you.
On the far right there is the Quit button that quits the game and takes you back to the Playray front page.

Playing

The purpose of the game is to destroy the opponents' fortresses and keep one's own fortress intact as long as possible.

In the beginning of the game you choose your own home fortress from among the fortresses in your area. Your own area is the one marked with a grid. Once you have chosen your home fortress, it will be enclosed by a wall automatically.

After this, the game consists of the following stages:

Installing cannons in your own fortress:
You can add cannons only within the walls of your own fortress. The number of cannons that can be added depends on how many fortresses you have enclosed. Your home fortress is, however, worth two fortresses. If you have enclosed your home fortress and two other fortresses, you can install 4 cannons. You don't have to install all cannons: you can stop the installation process by pressing the Esc button.
If you have three or more cannons to install, you can choose to install super cannons instead of ordinary cannons. By clicking the right mouse button you can choose between an ordinary cannon and a super cannon. Super cannons fire red cannon balls instead of normal ones, and when these cannon balls hit a wall, they leave a burning hole on the ground for 3 rounds. It is not possible to build new walls on these holes.

Firing:
During this stage you can fire in order to destroy the walls of the opponent's fortress and the opponent's cannons. Note that only the cannons that are inside undamaged walls when the firing begins can be used for the purposes of firing. Note also that a cannon can't be fired again before the previous cannon ball has hit the ground. This being so, firing at targets that are far away takes more time than firing at targets that are close.
If a cannon breaks when your opponent fires at it, the cannon can't be used any more during any round. However, the destroyed cannon stays in its place until the end of the game.

Repairing a Fortress:
Move the building blocks by mouse and click the mouse to indicate where you want to place the block. The right mouse button turns the building block. The building block must be placed somewhere before you can take a new one. Any one of your own fortresses must be surrounded by an undamaged wall. If you don't have a fortress surrounded by an undamaged wall at the end of the building stage, your game is over.

You can end the building stage with the Esc button if you don't want to use the entire building time.

After the building stage the installation of cannons starts again.

The winner is the player with the last fortress that is surrounded by undamaged walls.

Game Settings

Below the game there is a chat window in which you can chat with other players and possible viewers. If viewers are allowed, Remove and Ban buttons are displayed below the player list on the left from the chat window. These buttons can be used for removing viewers who make trouble. The Ban option works in the same way as Remove, except that a viewer who has been banned can't join the same game any more.

In addition, the following options boxes and buttons are displayed on the right from the chat window:
Instructions: When this option is active, you receive instructions on how the game proceeds. It is recommended to have this option activated when you are learning the game.
Building Grid: When activated, this option shows your own area as a grid during the building stage.
3D firing: Shows the firing stage from a 3D perspective, accompanied by different kinds of animations such as explosions. This is normally activated, but if these features slow down your computer too much during firing, you might want to deactivate this option.
Sounds: When this is checked, the sound effects of the game are active.
New Game: Is displayed only after a game has ended. By clicking this you can suggest a new game to other players A new game begins if all players agree to play.
Quit: Quits the game and returns to the game lobby.
